In a world full of endless distractions and matters that constantly demand our attention, whether its work, relationships or responsibilities, it is very easy to lose ourselves. As women we often put everyone else first and neglect the one person who matters the most: you.
Rebuilding yourself starts with making yourself a priority. It's about tuning into your needs, nurturing your wellbeing and reminding yourself daily that you deserve the care and attention you so freely give to others.
We are coming to the end of another year. Have you considered the ways in which you can refocus on you first? Here are 3 powerful self-care tips to help you rebuild and refocus on you every day:
Establish a Morning Routine
How you start your day sets the tone for everything else. If you create a morning routine that centres on you, whether it's journaling, meditation or exercise, small acts of self care can ground you and help you to set positive intentions for the day. By dedicating time to yourself first thing in the morning, you're reminding yourself that you matter.
Practice Saying 'No'
It can be easy to fall into the trap of saying 'yes' to everything - work tasks, social meetings, favours - but constantly doing so can leave you drained. Learning to say 'no' to things that don't serve you is a powerful act of self-care. It allows you to protect your energy and focus on what truly matters to you. Saying 'no' doesn't make you selfish, it empowers you to honour your boundaries.
Unplug & Reflect
We are in a digital age where we are constantly connected, which can lead to overwhelm. Dedicate some time each day to unplug from social media, work emails and the constant noise of the outside world. Use this time to reflect on your goals, emotions and personal growth. A simple walk, reading or even quiet time with your thoughts can recharge you and deepen your connection to yourself.
"You are always with yourself, so you might as well enjoy the company."
Rebuilding yourself is not a one-time event, it's a daily commitment. Here are some great book recommendations to support you on your journey:
"Year of Yes" (Shonda Rhimes) This book helps you understand the importance of mindfulness and staying present. It teaches you to break free from the mental narratives that fuel self-limiting beliefs and develop a more empowered mindset.
"Present Over Perfect" (Shauna Niequist) This book emphasises the importance of slowing down and focusing on what truly matters: you and your inner peace. It's ideal for women who feel overwhelmed by life's demands and want to rediscover the beauty of self-care and intentional living.
"Untamed: Stop Pleasing, Start Living" (Glennon Doyle) This book encourages women to break free from societal expectations and live unapologetically, embracing their truest selves.
If you prefer audio to books, here are some great podcasts you can listen to:
"The Mindful Kind" by Racheal Kable
"On Purpose" by Jay Shetty
Rebuilding and refocusing takes dedication and commitment. By centring on yourself, embracing self-care and setting clear boundaries, you’ll rediscover the strength, joy and peace that’s always been within you.
Remember - Every garden begins with one seed.
